Heavy Copper PCB
Heavy Copper PCB refers to pcb boards that use thicker copper foil in the conductor layer of the substrate.
What is a Heavy Copper PCB?
Heavy copper printed circuit boards are primarily used in power electronics and high power devices. It uses a thicker copper foil (typically 3 ounces and up) than ordinary printed circuit boards to efficiently handle higher currents and significantly improve heat dissipation. Heavy copper printed circuit boards have excellent conductivity and heat dissipation, and remain stable and reliable even in high-temperature or high-pressure environments. Therefore, it is widely used in power supply modules, automotive electronics, new energy and industrial control and other fields with high requirements for current and heat dissipation.
Heavy Copper PCB Structure and Technical Capabilities Core structure:
Layer | Details |
Substrate Material | FR4, high Tg materials, or metal substrates ensure that the board remains stable in high current and high temperature environments. |
Copper Layer | Copper layer thickness of 3 ounces -10 ounces, can make the circuit board can have good thermal performance and the ability to carry high current. |
Dielectric Layer | The use of high-strength insulating layer provides good electrical isolation and also has excellent thermal conductivity. |
Soldermask & Finish | Commonly used surface treatments include ENIG, OSP, HASL, silver-impregnated, tin-impregnated, etc. to meet the needs of different applications. |

Types of Heavy Copper PCBs we offer
Single Layer Heavy Copper PCB
Only one layer of conductive copper foil for simple construction, suitable for basic applications with high current carrying capacity, such as power boards and low-level power modulesDual Layer Heavy Copper PCB Two layers of thick copper wires are arranged on both sides of the board and connected through copper-plated through-holes. Supporting more complex circuits and higher current requirements, they are commonly used in motor drivers and power converters.
Multilayer Thick Copper PCB
Layers of four or more (including the inner power/ground plane) are pressed together to enable high power density and system integration designs, ideal for new energy vehicle control systems, industrial automation and aerospace systems.
Mixed-substrate thick copper PCBs
Combining FR4 with a metal substrate (e.g. copper, aluminum) provides both high electrical conductivity and good heat dissipation.
Specialized Thick Copper PCBs
Individual solutions for customer-specific requirements.
advantages of Heavy Copper PCB
Thick copper circuits can safely carry higher currents than regular PCBs.
Maximize heat dissipation by increasing outer layer copper thickness and bottom copper.
Rigid pcb construction with an aluminum base layer increases stability, reduces vibration, and protects core pcbs in harsh environments.
Greater mechanical strength and durability come from the heavy and extreme copper in both outer and inner layers.
Supports complex circuit board designs, routing copper traces, and multi-layer power distribution. prototype reaches global standards (IPC, UL, ISO) to ensure quality.
Supports single-board, double-sided and multi-layer thick copper circuit board manufacturing.
Each thick copper PCB is manufactured and tested to meet IPC, UL and ISO standards
